The metro service in Belo Horizonte is well known for an ignominious reason- it transports commuters from seemingly nothing to nowhere, owing to the fact that the network does not run close to any of the numerous places of interest, popular neighbourhoods and avenues around the city. The metro service has only 1 line presently, with 2 more planned to come up by 2018. With a track length of 28.1 km, the Belo Horizonte metro serves 19 stations. It is operated by the Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos.The metro system serves 88 million people annually.
Belo Horizonte Metro Timings, Frequency and Schedule
The Belo Horizonte metro system begins operations at 5:15 am in the morning and runs till 23:00 pm. During weekdays, the time interval between the trains ranges from 4-7 minutes during peak hours and 10-12 minutes during other times. On Saturday’s, the time interval between the trains range from 8-15 minutes. On Sunday’s and other holidays, the time interval between the trains is 14 minutes.

Belo Horizonte Metro Fares and Tickets
There are mainly three types of tickets available. A ticket that is valid for only one way on the train costs R $ 1.80. A round-about trip, costs R $ 3.60. A special offer can be availed with the purchase of a ticket for 9 trips, you get one trip free, this ticket costs R $ 16.20.
Elderly people, pregnant women and disabled people with special needs enjoy the privilege of skipping the queue to purchase tickets. People above the age of 65, have the right to travel for free.
