Dubai Tram Stations
The Dubai Tram stations list covers 11 stops on the Phase 1 route plan through Al Sufouh. This path train corridor links Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, and Al Sufouh, making it useful for everyday transportation in Dubai as well as visitor trips.
| Station | Details |
|---|---|
| Jumeirah Beach Residence 1 | Serves the JBR area. |
| Jumeirah Beach Residence 2 | Another stop for JBR and nearby beachfront destinations. |
| Jumeirah Lakes Towers | Connects directly with DMCC on the Dubai Metro Red Line. |
| Dubai Marina Mall | Useful for Dubai Marina Mall and nearby Marina areas. |
| Dubai Marina | Connects directly with Sobha Realty on the Dubai Metro Red Line. |
| Marina Towers | Serves the Marina Towers area. |
| Mina Seyahi | Useful for beachfront hotels and nearby coastal destinations. |
| Media City | Serves Dubai Media City and nearby event venues. |
| Palm Jumeirah | Interchange for the Palm Monorail toward Palm Gateway. |
| Knowledge Village | Serves Dubai Knowledge Village. |
| Al Sufouh | Terminal stop for the current line. |
For anyone checking a stations map or route, the most important interchanges are Jumeirah Lakes Towers for DMCC, Dubai Marina for Sobha Realty, and Palm Jumeirah for the monorail. Those links make the tram a practical part of local transport across Dubai Marina and the Palm entrance.
All stations are in the same zone, so the fare stays fixed for tram-only trips. The system also includes dedicated spaces for wheelchair users on all trams.
Timings and Frequency
The Dubai Tram timetable is simple to follow. Opening hours are longer on most days, while Sunday has a later starting time. If you are checking timings today, schedule today details usually follow the standard train schedule below unless holiday changes apply.
| Service detail | Timings |
|---|---|
| Monday to Saturday operating hours | 06:00 AM to 01:00 AM (next day) |
| Sunday operating hours | 09:00 AM to 01:00 AM (next day) |
| Peak frequency | Every 8 to 10 minutes |
| Off-peak frequency | Longer intervals |
In practice, the route timetable varies by time of day. During busy periods, trams arrive about every 8 to 10 minutes. Off-peak frequency is slightly lower, so leave extra running time if you need to transfer to the Metro or Monorail.
For people looking up working hours, opening times, closing time, or the last train, the standard service ends at 01:00 AM on all days, with Sunday starting later than the rest of the week. On holidays and special events, the schedule may change.
Dubai Tram Prices and Tickets
Dubai Tram ticket payment is based on nol cards and nol tickets. You can buy a ticket or card from ticket vending machines, kiosks, RTA customer service centres, the official website, or authorised sales agents. If you use a cash ticket machine, exact change may be required.
Because all tram stations are in the same zone, the fare is fixed for tram travel. That keeps the fare calculator simple: your ticket price depends on the card or cabin type, not on travel distance.
| Ticket Type | Fare |
|---|---|
| Silver Card | AED 3 (about USD 0.82) |
| Gold Card | AED 6 (about USD 1.63) |
| Blue Card | AED 3 (about USD 0.82) |
| Red Ticket | AED 4 (about USD 1.09) |
| Red Ticket with Gold Cabin access | AED 8 (about USD 2.18) |
Students, senior citizens, and social affairs beneficiaries can receive a 50% concession when using the blue nol card. People of Determination can travel free with the blue nol card. Children aged five and below do not need a ticket.
Nol cards can be topped up to AED 1,000 (about USD 272.29) for anonymous cards and AED 5,000 (about USD 1,361.47) after registration. Just tap the card at the validator, and the cost is deducted electronically.
To use the tram, you need a minimum balance of AED 7.5 (about USD 2.04), and keeping at least AED 15 (about USD 4.08) on the card is recommended. Travel without payment, or entering or exiting fare-controlled areas incorrectly, can lead to a fine of AED 200 (about USD 54.46).
Connections to Other Systems
Dubai Tram is built as part of the wider public transport system in the city, with direct connections to other transport modes. For transportation in Dubai Marina and nearby districts, this is one of the tram’s biggest advantages.
The current route connects with two Dubai Metro Red Line stations and one monorail link:
| Station | Details |
|---|---|
| Jumeirah Lakes Towers | Interchange with DMCC on the Dubai Metro Red Line. |
| Dubai Marina | Interchange with Sobha Realty on the Dubai Metro Red Line. |
| Palm Jumeirah | Out-of-station interchange with the Palm Monorail toward Palm Gateway. |
These connections make it easier to move between JBR, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and the rest of the metro network. The available information also notes that more direct links are expected as part of future expansion.
Parking near tram stops
Station parking is available for Dubai Tram users at a multi-storey garage on Sufouh Road. For tram passengers, parking charges are free, with the third floor reserved for this purpose.
Staff are present on site to guide drivers and help prevent misuse. You simply need to tell the staff that you plan to use the tram, and you can park in the reserved area.
The garage is near Station 9 Palm Jumeirah, so it works as a convenient park-and-ride option. From there, passengers can board the tram or transfer to the Monorail.
- Parking charges per day: free for Dubai Tram users
- Reserved area: third floor of the multi-storey garage on Sufouh Road
- Staff assistance: available on site
- Nearest tram stop: Palm Jumeirah
This setup is similar to park-and-ride arrangements used in other parts of Dubai public transport.
Tips and Rules
Before you travel, make sure your nol card has enough balance. If not, top it up first. Tap in before boarding and tap out after leaving so the fare is charged correctly.
The tram uses an open system without gate barriers, so this step matters. Miss it, and you could face a fine.
For an easier trip, top up your card through digital channels instead of waiting at station machines. If you want a quieter ride, avoid peak periods when possible.
Dubai Tram has Gold Class, Silver Class, and a women and children cabin, plus a dedicated area for People of Determination. Use the correct cabin and follow posted rules and signage.
Timings, opening hours, and working hours can change during holidays or major events, so check the latest schedule before heading out. The RTA website and the RTA Dubai and S’hail apps are the main sources for schedule updates.
The system is supervised, and inspectors patrol stations and trams. If you lose something, speak to a police officer at any tram station. Found items are transferred to the Dubai Police Security Office at Burjuman Metro Station.
History
The history of Dubai Tram begins with its role as a tramway for Al Sufouh, linking Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and Al Sufouh while connecting with the Dubai Metro Red Line and the Palm Monorail.
The first section was 10.6 km long, or 6.6 miles, with 11 stations. It was ceremonially inaugurated on 11 November 2014, and public service started at 6:30 AM on 12 November 2014.
Construction was carried out by a consortium of Alstom, Besix, and Parsons. The project was planned in two phases. Phase 1 had originally been expected to open in April 2011, but the launch was delayed until November 2014. Work was briefly paused in late 2010 because of financing issues, then resumed in January 2011, when around 30% of Phase 1 had already been completed. By mid-2014, the line had reached testing.
Phase 1 brought 11 trams and 11 stations across the first route section. Phase 2 was planned to add 14 more trams and eight additional stations over another 4 km, or 2.5 miles. The system also stood out globally as the fourth tramway project to use the Alstom APS ground-based electric supply system.
Future Extensions
Dubai Tram expansion plans go beyond the completed first phase. Available information says a second phase is expected to extend the route to Burj Al Arab and Mall of the Emirates, adding seven stations and 14 new trams.
A third phase is also planned to reach 2nd December Street, though it was not expected to be ready before 2025. Additional metro connections have also been mentioned, including Sheikh Zayed Road and The Mall of the Emirates.
Longer-term network planning points to wider growth in tramway and metro coverage. By 2029, the combined Metro and Tram system is planned to grow from 101 km to 131 km, or from 62.8 miles to 81.4 miles, with the total number of stations rising to 78, including 11 tram stations.
