Routes, Stops, and Major Destinations

METRO Park & Ride routes are built for longer commuter trips into the city. Many buses start outside the 610 Loop, run with limited stops, and use HOV lanes where available. That makes the service useful if your daily route plan points toward Downtown Houston or the Texas Medical Center.

Routes are listed by number and destination, such as 204 Spring or 222 Grand Parkway. For the best path train and bus connection, check the route timetable, stations map, and stop-by-stop schedule before you travel.

Zone 2 $3.25 (US$3.25) $1.60 (US$1.60)

Ways to Pay

You can pay your Park & Ride fare with a RideMETRO Fare Card, the RideMETRO app, a RideMETRO Ticket, credit or debit card, mobile wallet, or exact cash on the bus. Cash is accepted on local bus and Park & Ride service, but no change is given.

  • Physical RideMETRO Fare Card
  • Virtual RideMETRO Fare Card in the RideMETRO app
  • RideMETRO Ticket
  • Credit or debit card
  • Apple Pay or Google Pay
  • Exact cash on local bus and Park & Ride bus

Tap a card or mobile wallet at the validator. Scan app-based fare products using the QR code reader. Each rider must use a separate payment method.

Transfers and Pass Limitations

Free transfers are available for up to three hours between METRO services of equal or lesser value when you pay with an eligible RideMETRO Fare Card, RideMETRO Ticket, credit or debit card, or mobile wallet. Use the same payment method throughout the transfer window.

If you transfer to a higher-cost service, you pay the fare difference. Cash payments do not include free transfers.

Important: 3-Hour Passes and Day Passes are not valid on Park & Ride. If your trip includes a Park & Ride bus, do not buy a Day Pass for that ride.

Discounted and Free Fares

Discounted Park & Ride fares are available for students, seniors ages 65 to 69, and people with disabilities who are not METROLift customers. Proof of eligibility is required to receive a discounted fare card.

The following riders travel free:

Connections with Other METRO Services

METRO operates more than 20 transit centers and more than 20 Park & Ride lots across the Houston region. Together, they create more than 40 places where riders can park, transfer, and connect with other public transportation in Houston.

Many facilities offer local transport connections to bus, METRORail, or shuttle service. Availability varies by location, and Fannin South has different parking charges.

Local Bus and METRORail Transfers

Transit centers often sit at the beginning or end of bus and rail routes. They provide sheltered waiting areas, video surveillance, and daily patrols by METRO police officers.

Local buses are ADA accessible and include free Wi-Fi, security cameras, and bike racks. METRORail vehicles are ADA accessible, have video surveillance, and allow bikes on board. The Red Line connects Downtown Houston with the Texas Medical Center, the Green Line runs toward the historic East End, and the Purple Line connects Downtown with Texas Southern University and the University of Houston.

HOV and HOT Lane Corridors

HOV means High Occupancy Vehicle, and HOT means High Occupancy Toll. In the METRO system, these are barrier-separated lanes in the middle of I-45, Hwy. 59, and Hwy. 290. They are reversible: inbound toward Downtown Houston in the morning and outbound in the afternoon.

On I-45, inbound service runs from 5 to 11 a.m., and outbound service runs from 1 to 8 p.m. Hwy. 290 also runs inbound from 5 to 11 a.m. and outbound from 1 to 8 p.m. Access rules vary by freeway, time of day, and number of people in the vehicle.

I-10 is different. West of Interstate 610, managed lanes are operated by HCTRA, while METRO operates the Katy-CBD HOV ramp near Downtown Houston. That ramp is open 24 hours a day in both directions for buses, motorcycles, vanpools, and carpools carrying at least two passengers, with no toll on the ramp.

First- and Last-Mile Connections

Park & Ride lots help solve the first mile of a commute: drive to a lot near home, park, and board the express bus. After arrival, riders can connect to local bus, METRORail, or nearby employment centers.

In the East End, riders can park at the Harrisburg Garage and use the METRORail Green Line for a quick ride into Downtown. For arrival information, use text alerts, the METRO website, the RideMETRO app, or Customer Service at 713-635-4000.
