Baltimore Metro Subway Information

Locally known by a number of names including the Baltimore Metro and The Subway, the Baltimore Metro Subway is a rapid transit line operating in Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States. Running along a length of 24.8 km and serving 14 stations on the way, the metro has a daily ridership of around 51,000 (2012). It is operated and owned by the Maryland Transit Administration, consisting of 2 tracks. Although the better part of the metro service lies above the ground, it is still referred to as a subway system.

In the month of September 2011, it reached another milestone with the commencement of Sunday service, allowing the commuters to use the service for seven-days a week. A very popular means of transport among the people, this metro subway system is about 32 years old.

Baltimore Metro Subway Timings and Frequency

On weekdays the metro service operates from 5:00-00:00,midnight. Whereas, on weekdays it starts of a bit later, operating from 6:00-00:00,midnight. The total time taken to move from one end of the metro service to other is around 30 minutes. During morning and evening peak hours, the metro service has a frequency of 8-10 minutes. During weekday evenings, the metro’s operate at every 11 minutes.

The frequency of the metro trains is slightly lesser on weekends and holidays, with trains arriving approximately every 15 minutes.

Baltimore Metro Subway Fares and Tickets

The fares are divided on the basis of one-way passes, day passes, weekly passes and monthly passes. A one-way pass costs $1.70, a day pass costs $4.00, a weekly pass costs $22.00 and a monthly pass costs $68.00.
There are special fares for the elderly and disabled people. A one way pass costs $0.70, a day pass costs $2.00 and a monthly pass costs $20.00.
