Delhi Metro Began operation on 24 December 2002.

Delhi Metro is a rapid transit system serving Delhi and its neighboring cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) including Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Bahadurgarh. It is operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Delhi Metro has contributed significantly to reducing traffic congestion, pollution, and accidents in the city. It has been certified by the United Nations as the first metro rail and rail-based system in the world to get carbon credits for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Feeder Buses: Available to ensure last-mile connectivity.

Fares

Delhi Metro fares are structured based on the distance traveled. Here is a breakdown of the fare structure:

Distance-Based Fare:

  • 0-2 km: ₹10
  • 2-5 km: ₹20
  • 5-12 km: ₹30
  • 12-21 km: ₹40
  • 21-32 km: ₹50
  • Above 32 km: ₹60

Discounts:

  • Smart Card Users: 10% discount on every journey.
  • Additional Discounts: 20% discount during off-peak hours (Monday to Saturday, except national holidays).

Ticket Options:

  • Tokens: Single journey tokens are available at metro stations.
  • Smart Cards: Convenient for regular commuters, these offer various benefits like discounts and easy recharge options.
  • Tourist Cards: Available for one day or three days, these cards offer unlimited travel within their validity period.

Timing

The Delhi Metro operates from early morning to late night, with specific timings for different lines:

General Timings:

  • First Train: Around 5:30 AM
  • Last Train: Around 11:30 PM

Airport Express Line:

  • First Train: 4:45 AM
  • Last Train: 11:30 PM

Frequency:

  • Peak Hours: 2-3 minutes
  • Off-Peak Hours: 5-10 minutes
