The Gold Souk is located in the Deira area. The market is exclusively for buying jewellery. There are about 300 retail shops. There is an estimated 10 tonnes of gold in the souk. The trade here grew in the 1940s due to the trade policies that favoured the gold and diamond trade with India and Iran. The lanes are narrow along the shops. The old souk’s marine station is about 5 minutes away from Glod Souk.
