Foshan Metro Information
Foshan Metro, or more commonly known as FMetro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Foshan, Guangzhou. The tenth metro system to operate in mainland China, the FMetro currently operates on 1 line serving a total of 18 stations. The 27.3 km network is mainly operated by the Foshan Railway Investment Construction Group and partly by the Guangzhou Metro Corporation. Opened on 3 November 2010, the metro has grown in popularity year on year. By 2015, it will be carrying 268,000 passengers a day at peak times. Further expansion plans are underway, with 2 more lines and an extension of the current line already under construction.

Foshan Metro Timings and Frequency
The metro service starts at 6:00 am and runs until 11:00 pm. Trains run every few minutes. They are packed at weekends as people from Foshan travel to Guangzhou.
Foshan Metro Fares, Tickets and Cards
It takes about an hour to get from downtown Guangzhou to downtown Foshan and costs about 5 yuan. Line 1 starts at Xilang and ends at Kuiqiang Lu in Foshan. Single tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at the stations.
The system also offers student cards for primary, secondary and vocational school students. The card offers a 50% discount on fares. Senior citizens aged 60-65 can also benefit from a 50% discount on fares with a senior citizen’s card. Senior citizens over 65 can travel free on the metro.
Discounts are also available on group tickets, which can be purchased for a group of 30 or more people. The ticket offers a 10% discount.

Most metro stations have park and ride facilities where metro passengers can leave their vehicles.
Foshan Metro Rules and Tips
The following things cannot be taken inside the premises of the metro network: ammunition and arms, animals, flammables, explosives and other dangerous items.
Running around chasing people and causing trouble is prohibited. Be careful not to climb over fences, locomotives etc. Cleanliness is given priority and a number of acts such as spitting, urinating etc should not take place anywhere within the metro network.

Foshan Metro Lines
The only line currently in operation is the Guangfo Line – Line 1 was opened to the public in 2010 and is 20.4km long with 14 stations. The line runs between Kuiqi Lu and Yangang. The extension of this line from Yangang to Lijiao will open in 2016. When the extension is completed, the line will be 32.2 km long and serve 21 stations, 10 of which will be in Guangzhou.
