Ankara Metro Information
The Ankara Metro (Ankara Metrosu) is a rapid transit system that serves the capital city of Turkey, Ankara. The system began operations in 1996/1997, and presently has 4 lines that serve 45 stations. The total length of the system in 55.1 km, with the inclusion of the suburban rail the total length of the system measures 92.7 km. Cayyolu Metrosu (M2) and Torekent Metrosu (M3) lines, are the latest addition to this metro system. The construction of 10 new stations is in progress. Operated by the Electricity, Gas, Bus General Directorate (EGO), the Ankara Metro system has an annual ridership of 89.4 million (2013).

Ankara Metro Hours
The metro service starts operation at 6:00 am and runs until midnight.
Ankara Metro Fares, Tickets and Cards
The fare payment on the Ankara Metro system is through paper tickets that have magnetic strips. A single fare ticket costs TL 1.75. This fare is the same as the bus fare, and the electronic bus tickets can also be used here. For students, a single fare is priced at TL 1.30. Using magnetic tickets, transfers are allowed for more than two times within 75 minutes. Each transfer costs TL 0.59. The transfer fee is not applicable for discount cards, and the transfer time is 75 minutes.

Ankara Metro offers park and ride facilities to metro riders in few stations only.
Ankara Metro Rules and Tips
The tickets need to be validated before entering the metro. There are ticket machines on the turnstiles, where the tickets need to be inserted. After it is validated, the ticket pops out, which can then be collected. Smoking and consumption of alcohol is prohibited at the stations as well as inside the trains.
