Fare jumping rampant at Los Angeles Metro

Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials were recently took by surprise by a news report by LA Times that claims nearly 40% more commuters were using the metro train service than that actual number of tickets being sold.

The ridership figures are up by 5 percent , As per the official figures nearly 115 Mn commuters used the light-rail and subway system last year.  A recent Los Angeles Times analysis however claims that only 70 million of those rides are legal. Much of the difference between these figures is being attributed to fare evasion Los Angeles Metro Rail recently proposed a fare hike effective September 1, 2021 and is now under pressure to reduce such incidents of fare evasion.
