Shenyang Metro  Information

The Shenyang metro began operations in the year 2010, while its trial period began a year in advance. Currently, this 55 km long metro network runs on 2 lines and serves 43 stations in total. Despite beginning operations only recently, it is the 7th metro network to be in operations in China. The metro hasn’t ceased growing, and is yet in its growth stage. By the year 2020, if things go according to plan, the Shenyang metro will operate on 4 lines instead of 2. Perhaps, because of this, its daily ridership of 762,000 (2015) will also rise.

The trains operate from 06:00 am in the morning and run till 23:00 pm.

Shenyang Metro Fares, Tickets and Cards

The Shenyang metro has a lot of different types of tickets available. A one-way ticket, can be purchased by the passengers from any of the vending machines, which are spread across the stations. Another option available to the passengers is the Mukden general consumer card. The benefit of this card is that the passengers get a discount of 9.5%. To purchase it one needs to make an initial deposit of 20 yuan, with the maximum amount that a card can be recharged for is 1000 yuan.

Shenyang Metro Rules and Tips

The disabled and needy people, like pregnant women, are provided with assistance if ever need be. All that they need to do is contact the management. Photography and videography without consent from the management is prohibited as well. Similarly, arms, pets, explosives, bicycles, flammable substances etc. are prohibited too. Any damage done to the trains or anything inside the trains, is considered to be an offence. Unhygienic things, like, spitting and urinating in public are strictly prohibited.

Shenyang Metro Lines

At present Line 1 of the Metro service runs in an East-West direction, operating along nearly twenty-eight kilometers and serving twenty-two different stations on the route. Construction on this line started back in 2005 while the line was made fully operational only in September of 2010. A four station extension project to the east of Dongling Park has also been taken up since 2009 and is expected to be completed soon.

Line 2 runs along a North-South corridor and began serving the commuters only in 2012 while construction was started during the latter half of 2006. It stretches over a length of nearly twenty kilometers and features nineteen stations along the route. Extensions have been planned on this line in both the directions- North as well as the South.
